Melissa Mouthaan

My research addresses EU cooperation with West African countries and the scope for third countries to shape the EU's external migration regime. In particular, I adopt an institutionalist lens to analyse preference formation among African state actors as well as looking at the importance of the domestic conditions under which policy makers operate, and the role of the domestic context in shaping the responses of Senegalese and Ghanaian government ministries to EU policy proposals in migration.
