Research Interests
I have worked extensively in South America on issues related to impoverishment, inequality and marginalization, and the ways in which state, NGO and international policies and institutions attempt to address these issues. I have worked extensively on gender and development issues, and the ethno-development policies (culture and development), especially in Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru and Chile. I have also supervised graduate students on Mexico. I examine these issues from a critical theoretical perspective, and using intensive qualitative and participatory research methods
