Welfare and Inequality:

Research Interests

Wendy Pullan researches the nature of urban conflict, particularly in ethnic, national and religious confrontations. She has long experience of research on Jerusalem as a divided city, and has studied and compared other contested cities in Europe and the Middle East. Although many of these conflicts are derived from state or international disputes, they are increasingly played out in urban arenas. This affects the growth and development of cities and as well as their socio-spatial viability and everyday life. Dr Pullan was PI for the ESRC Large Grant project 'Conflict in Cities and the Contested State' and is now the Director of the Centre for Urban Conflicts Research, based in the Department of Architecture (www.urbanconflicts.arct.cam.ac.uk).
